eTwinning Program in the Republic of Moldova
eTwinning is part of the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Program and is designed for all school teachers. eTwinning network (http://www.etwinning.net) is a community of 200 000 teachers and more than 100 000 schools in 33 European countries (the 28 EU Member States, Republic of Iceland, Switzerland, Kingdom of Norway, Republic of Turkey and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia).
On March 4, 2013 was launched the eTwinning Plus - a partial extension of eTwinning to the Eastern Partnership countries, including Moldova (http://plus.etwinning.net/en/pub/index.htm).
On February 7, 2014 East Europe Foundation was appointed by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova as Partner Support Agency to implement the eTwinning Program in our country.
The program aims to facilitate communication and collaboration between institutions of pre-university education in the Republic of Moldova and the European Union countries, by involving pupils in new learning activities: to create various educational products by using the new technologies and to cooperate with teams from other countries.
- To strengthen and to develop school networking via a Europe-wide school-twinning scheme which should make it possible for all European schools to build educational partnerships with a school elsewhere in Europe.
-To improve the teaching and learning of languages, to promote linguistic diversity and intercultural awareness.
The benefits of eTwinning:
The eTwinning Program facilitates teachers’ access to a virtual environment for collaboration and exchange of teaching experience, to build school partnerships and to take part in professional development activities with colleagues from European countries. By participating in eTwinning projects, students have the opportunity to communicate with other students, to learn about cultures and life in other countries, to use ICT at school and to develop their foreign language skills.
Teachers and pupils will be able to develop creative and inter-cultural educational projects by using the ICT and language skills.
