Polling stations abroad overwhelmed by voters

Chişinău, Moldova, November 28, 2010 – according to preliminary information regarding the voting abroad for the early parliamentary elections of November 28, 2010, in the 25 polling stations monitored by the East Europe Foundation observers, an increased participation has been recorded.
The polling stations have opened at 7.00, most of the electoral bureaus are complete, except for several sections where some of of the members of the electoral bureaus showed up late. In order to vote most of the voters are included on supementary lists.
In several polling stations in Italy (Padova, Rome, Treviso, Bologna), Belgia (Bruxelles), Russian Federation (Moscow) the polling stations were croweded, due to an increased number of voters queueing to vote despite the bad weather.
Basket Fund for Moldova programme announces projects’ selection

7 projects were selected within the Call for Proposal of the Basket Fund initiative, launched in June 2010 by the European Partnership for Democracy (EPD) and East Europe Foundation (EEF) in the framework of the European Partnership Fair for Civil Society Organizations in Moldova.
The main aim of the Basket Fund is to support projects that would correspond to the Partnership Fair’s goals: share valuable experience from European transitions to democracy; develop new partnerships; strengthen the country’s fledgling democracy and show support for the country’s pro-European agenda. At the moment, the Basket Fund consists of financial contribution from East Europe Foundation (EEF), National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Czech Republic.

The “Partnership for children” supports the first community projects

Chisinau, 25 August 2010 – The “Partnership for children” will financially support nine local projects that will contribute to a better life of children. The amount of money allocated for each project will vary from 37 thousand MDL to 57 thousand MDL.
„All children should have equal chances and enjoy their childhood. This initiative, through our support, offers this possibility”, said Liliana Palihovici, Chair of the Parliamentary Commission for Social Protection, Health and Family. „Above all this, the most important thing is to continue this kind of activities. We encourage the private sector to join our partnership and the public authorities, NGOs and initiative groups to launch new initiatives for children.”
The Parliamentary Commission for Social Protection, Health and Family, Orange Moldova, UNICEF Moldova, United Nations Population Fund Moldova (UNFPA), East Europe Foundation, National federation of Football, etc. united their forces within this Partnership.

The European Partnership Fair for Civil Society Organization in Moldova took place in Chisinau

The European Partnership Fair for Civil Society Organizations in Moldova took placefor the first time in Chisinau, on June 15-16 2010. . The event was organized by European Partnership for Democracy (EPD), East Europe Foundation (EEF) and „Promo-LEX” Association.
The main goal of the event was to help strengthening the Moldovan Civil Society (including the one from Transnistria) by sharing experience, establishing partnership relations with NGOs from European Union and CIS countries, as well as trying to provide some funding for joint initiatives launched by the Fair participants.
