Gun-Britt ANDERSSON
Mrs. Andersson is a former Ambassador of Sweden to the UNESCO and OECD. In 1968, Mrs. Andersson was appointed First Secretary at the Ministry of Finance dealing with international economic and financial development assistance issues. She then worked in the Department of International Development Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1970 to 1975. From 1975 until 1979, she was the Administrator of the Swedish Agency for Research Cooperation with Developing Countries (SAREC). In 1980, she became at first Deputy Head and in 1983 Head of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency’s (Sida) office in Tanzania. From 1984 until 1987, Mrs. Andersson was the Director of the Personnel Division of Sida, where she was responsible for the reorganization of the agency. In 1987, Mrs. Andersson became Assistant Under-Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; she was Head of a Division in charge of policy planning and budgeting of the Department for International Development Cooperation. From 1992 until 1994, Mrs. Andersson worked as Director of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Operations in the West Bank. In 1994, she became State Secretary for Social Security in the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, a post she held until 1996. Thereafter, she occupied the post of State Secretary for Migration and Asylum Policy in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. In 1999, Mrs. Andersson became State Secretary for Development Cooperation, Migration and Asylum Policy, a post she held until her appointment in 2003 till 2007 as Permanent Representative of Sweden to the OECD and UNESCO. Mrs. Andersson is married to Mr. Goran Andersson and has two children.
