Appeal from Moldova's civil society representatives on the urgent need to replace the current peacekeeping mission on the Nistru River

Relying on the principles and values of democracy, based on respect for human dignity, promoted by and enshrined in key international documents, civil society representatives launch the Appeal on the urgent need to replace the current peacekeeping mission on the Nistru River. The Appeal is addressed to the national and international High Officials, to the representatives of the international organizations as well as to the representatives of the diplomatic community from the Republic of Moldova.

Youth in Moldova identifying and solving community issues

Involving youth in the identification and solving of local problems, the whole society is provided an opportunity to build on their vision, strength, and enthusiasm for the benefit of the community. The “Youth Participation in Moldova” program, funded by the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) through Eurasia Foundation and implemented by the East Europe Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, supports the youth involvement in the social, economic and political life of their communities.

Within this project representatives of 36 local NGOs across the country have received training in project development, fundraising, and debate organization and with this knowledge will now collaborate with local authorities and community members, to implement projects addressing the most pressing needs, identified in public consultations/debates at the local level.

The NPC, established in 2010 by the Government of the Republic of Moldova is comprised of 30 civil society organizations, including EEF-M
East Europe Foundation- Moldova has supported the Secretariat of National Participation Council (NPC) – www.cnp.md  since its establishment. The NPC, established in 2010 by the Government of the Republic of Moldova is comprised of 30 civil society organizations, including EEF-M. Currently, the NPC is chaired by EEF President, Sorin Mereacre, who was elected by NPC members in February 2011. With an enhanced structure, capacities, organizational and communication tools, the NPC has become more than a watchdog over the activity of the Moldovan Government, but also as an effective and responsible contributor to elaborating Government policies.

NPC efforts are concentrated on a range of public policies considered by its members as priorities.  These documents include the National Development Strategy 2008-2011 and the new National Development Strategy 2012-2020, National Action Plan in the field of human rights 2011-2014, Justice Reform, the Strategy for the Development of Civil Society and

Citizens from six communities now have improved social community infrastructure

LEPCitizens from 6 communities of the country now live in better conditions, after 6 partnerships between NGOs, LPA and business were created and 6 joint local community development projects were implemented under the Local Economic Partnerships Project. 

Hundreds of pupils and their parents from the Theoretic Lyceum from Oliscani village, Soldanesti rayon have access to hot water after the school heating system was renovated and alternative energy sources (solar panels) were installed. In Donduseni rayon, children from a local kindergarten are healthier due to the use of “Aktivtherm” technology that provides adequate insolation of the building. In Bobeica commune Ungheni town children are happy to play and spend their leisure time on the newly equipped playground and sports field.
